Ershad Rahbar Sobh Khiz was born in Tehran in 1982. He began his professional career in animation in 2002 as a freelance artist and later joined Hoor Animation Company in 2006 as a project supervisor. Over the following years, he gained extensive experience across various roles, including team leader, animator, lighting & render artist, and editor. In 2012, he was promoted to the position of Animation Director.
Throughout his animation career, Ershad directed three animated series, more than 15 short animations, and a number of advertising videos broadcast by IRIB
(Iran Broadcasting). His notable works include:
“Mahārat-hāye Zandegi” (Life Skills) – Directed 52 episodes of this 500-episode series (2012–2014).
“Ghahremānān-e Madreseh” (School Heroes) – Directed 13 episodes (2014–2016).
A 15-episode series on social learning produced by Hoor Studio (2016).
“Kalileh va Doostān” (Kalila and Friends) – A 52-episode animation aired by IRIB in 2018.

In 2018, Ershad pursued his deepening interest in psychoanalytic and psychological themes by studying professional filmmaking at the Libera Università del Cinema (Free University of Cinema) in Rome, Italy. This marked a turning point in his artistic vision.
In 2022, he wrote and directed his first short fiction film, “Too dar Too” (Nested), an introspective work based on insights gathered from his own psychoanalytic and therapy experiences. The film explores psychological complexities that are often difficult to express in everyday conversation.
Following this experience, Ershad embarked on his second experimental psychological short film, focusing on the internal conflict between old unconscious patterns and the conscious mind’s attempts at change. His creative goal is to visualize the subtle psychological processes that occur when the mind is challenged to transform- what resists, what unfolds, and what emerges in between.
Ershad continues to draw upon his multi-disciplinary background in animation, visual arts, and psychology to create works that blend conceptual storytelling with emotional authenticity.
